About NewcomerPath

Here's the map. You still have to walk it.

Everything about immigrating to Canada is written down somewhere on canada.ca. That's sort of the problem — it's all there, spread over hundreds of pages, and nothing tells you what order to do it in. This site puts the steps in order and shows you where you are in them. That's the whole idea.

What this is

  • A free guide to the immigration and settlement processes that are already public.
  • Every step explained in plain words, with a link to the official page that actually decides it.
  • Checkboxes you can tick as you go, saved in your browser.
  • A review date on every page, so you can see how old the information is.

What this is not

  • Not legal advice, and not advice about your situation.
  • Nothing to do with the Government of Canada or IRCC. We don't speak for them.
  • Not somewhere you submit anything. We never see your documents or your application.
  • Not something to rely on for deadlines or decisions. IRCC's pages change, and those are the ones that count.

Nobody should be charging you without a licence

In Canada, taking money for immigration advice without a licence is against the law. The damage lands on you, not on them — so check anyone you are about to pay.
